Custom-Machined Parts

As a reasonably well-equipped small shop, we are able to make all sorts of machined components.  We can work from CAD models, printed drawings, or actual parts.  Parts to be made are drawn in one of our CAD programs, and usually end up being machined through Mastercam X.  Although our primary focus is on firearms, we have also made parts for the model railroad, R/C boat and helicopter, and custom machinery fields.  Typical lot sizes range from 10 to 500 pieces, but we have no problem with smaller or greater quantities.  We are known for quality and attention to detail - ask anyone who has purchased one of our rifle actions!

The Haas VF2 VMC, with table travels of 30" x 15", is the primary machine in the shop.  Its high-speed machining option, in combination with Mastercam, makes short work of complex parts.  Many firearms parts which formerly were cast or forged, can be effectively machined from solid barstock because of these advances.  In particular, we have made many machined V and flat mainsprings, and they have turned out to be virtually unbreakable.

Screws are made on the Haas SL10 lathe.  With 6000 RPM available, it is well-suited to rapid production of small round components.  It has also proven to be quite accurate - typically we hold screw pitch diameters to +/- .0002".  Reverse-engineering of odd screws is somewhat of a specialty here, and they can often be made economically in batches as small as 25 pieces.
